Oilers Update - Omark Overseas

Unrestricted free agent Linus Omark has signed a one year deal with the EV ZUG of Switzerland's National League A.

The 25 year-old forward from Sweden, scored 3 goals in 14 games with the Oilers and then finished the 2012 season with the Oklahoma Barons with 16 points in 18 games.

Despite, his flashiness and brilliant play-making abilities, Omark became the victim of an Edmonton Oilers club who carries an over-abundance of small, skilled forwards. To make matters more difficult, Omark publicly said that he wanted out of Edmonton.  This was made evident when a few months ago, he tweeted "I really hope edm let me have a chance in another nhl team."  His tweet, forced GM Steve Tambellini to reply, "Linus is an interesting guy."  He then added that Omark isn't good enough to beat out anyone in Edmonton's top six.

Linus Omark will be most remembered for his heart-stopping, shoot-out goal versus the Tampa Bay Lightning during his first ever NHL game.

Good Luck to Linus Omark.
