Oilers Update - Finland tops Sweden at IIHF. Paajarvi Scores
Finland collected the gold medal today as they steamrolled over Team Sweden with a 6-1 victory at the IIHF World Championships in Bratislava, Slovakia.
Magnus Paajarvi's wrister from the top left circle opened the scoring in the second period, but then it was all Finland until the final buzzer.
Finnish forward Antti Philstrom lead his team in points with a goal and an assist to help his country win it's first gold medal since 1995.
Magnus Paajarvi finished the tournament with a respectful 7 points. The Edmonton Oilers forward had 2 goals and 5 assists.
Earlier in the day, the Czech's went home with the bronze after they defeated the Russians 7-4. Czech forward Roman Cervenka completed the game with a hat trick.
