Oilers Update - Oilers vs Canucks Preseason


The Edmonton Oilers will face the Vancouver Canucks tonight at Rexall Place.  The Oilers have decided to forge a line-up which will consist mainly of veterans, but rookie Ryan Nugent-Hopkins will get his opportunity to show the Oilers Scouts and Brass what he is made off.  The Oilers first round choice will centre between Ryan Smyth and Jordan Eberle on the first line.   Omissions for the Oilers are Ryan Jones, Ben Eager, Cam Barker and U2's Bono's favorite Oilers Gilbert Brule will watch the game from the rafters.


Here is the Oilers roster for tonight's match-up.


Ryan Smyth - Ryan Nugent-Hopkins - Jordan Eberle
Taylor Hall - Sam Gagner - Tyler Pitlick
Magnus Paajarvi - Shawn Horcoff - Linus Omark

The Vancouver Canucks will have somewhat of an AHL line-up which will consist of players whom haven't had much playing time in the show.


Owen Nolan on the other hand will find himself on the top line with Niko Dimitrakos and Canucks top draft pick Cody Hodgson. The 39 year-old Nolan spent the last season in Zurich playing in the Swiss League and he is now looking to crack the club. The Canucks top players such as The Sedin twins, Ryan Kesler and Roberto Luongo will not dress for tonight's contest.   On the topic of goaltenders, Manny Legace will ma the pipes for the Canucks and he will be backed up by Eddie Lack.
